A psychiatric hospital often includes a variety of different types of therapies, from art therapy to recreational therapy to talk therapy, and patients are also often set up with long term psychiatric care even after they are discharged from the hospital.
There is no shame in seeking psychiatric care, as millions around the world deal with one or more mental illnesses on a day to day basis. From anxiety disorders to depression to PTSD, psychiatric care is important for maintaining a healthy mind a good quality of life for mental illness sufferers. Mental illness can affect anyone, from college students to new mothers to your best friend. It doesn’t discriminate and anyone can be affected by it. Mental illness is certainly not uncommon, and should not be shamed.
