Why You Might Need to See A Throat Specialist

Knowing when to seek medical treatment or where to seek different types of treatment can be a guessing game at times. Dr. Nadim Bikhazi of Ogden Regional Medical Center sheds some light on when it’s important to see an ear, nose, and throat specialist.

An ear, nose, and throat specialist should only be sought out after patients have spoken to a primary care physician who has exhausted all of their medical treatment options.

At the Ogden clinic, physicians perform what Dr. Bikhazi refers to as “minimally invasive surgical procedures”. They treat various issues, including hearing loss, wax blockage, recurring ear infections in children, chronic sinus problems, thyroid problems, and more. Snoring and sleep apnea are two of the issues they treat most frequently.

One primary problem with ear, nose, and throat treatment is failing to focus on the core issue behind a patient’s visit. In a primary care office, the range of medical issues they cover is so wide it doesn’t leave much time to address the main issue. In the field of ear, nose, and throat medicine, these specialists are able to focus on the main issue more easily than in the primary care field.
