Please read this section if you are entered in a relay. The relay is fun and we give you options for the distance you run. Basically the location of the legs are: 3rd Avenue and 20th Street (the start basically after a 2.2 mile first loop) and Ritter Park (which is entered at about 8.3 miles and exited at about 9.1 miles. Since these points are so close, it gives you the option of handing off to your teammate at either point. Therefore the relay distances are 2.2, 6.1 and 4.8 miles OR 2.2, 6.9 and 4.0 miles. A hand slap is all that is needed for the relay transition.
IMPORTANT – the timing of the race is done by a tag attached to the bib; the LAST RELAY LEG RUNNER needs to wear the bib with this tag. Each runner will have race bibs with the same number on it but only the bib with the tag will record on the computer timing system.
You may run together at the finish or anywhere along the way if you want. If you are not the official runner of the leg however please be courteous. If you are in a congested area, please don’t impede other runners.
Relays must pick up their packet on Saturday between Noon and 6pm and read the relay instructions (which will basically be as noted here).
There is an award for the best team name of the relay (this is determined after the race finish and the award is mailed to the team). Be creative.
