5 Uses for Regenerative Stem Cell Therapy

Neurosurgery practice

Regenerative stem cell therapy is used to describe a type of treatment that uses medical technology to imitate the body’s natural ability to heal itself. It’s called imitating but it is not simply copying the idea, the stem cells that are put back in the body literally do exactly the same thing that the natural stem cells do. The way that the body repairs damaged tissues or replaces them is what the stem cells replicate. Healing and regeneration of tissues is regenerative stem cell therapy’s main purpose. Stem cells are taken but the body’s own fat cells or blood streams and used in out of body regenerative treatments. When they are ready they are injected back in to the body in order to stimulate healing.

Uses of Regenerative Stem Cell Therapy

  1. Anti Aging
Regenerative therapy is often used in aesthetic processes like anti aging. Any damage that has occurred over time because of aging such as wrinkles as well as joint pain and stiffness can be repaired using regenerative stem cell therapy. It is not a guaranteed procedure but has had some success in recent years. There are other types of regenerative therapy that can be used well, use as laser therapy, platelet rich plasma therapy and infrared sauna therapy. All of these therapies have the same goal of repairing and regenerating cells that already exist in the body.
  2. Chronic Pain
Pain can come through many different sources like injury, age, stress, overuse, illness and more. Stem cell therapy is frequently used to treat all kinds of pain. Stem cells play a big part in repairing damaged tissue which includes cartilage, tendons and bone. By implementing regenerative stem cell therapy, the body can begin to repair the damage that is causing the severe pain in the body. Even though the body may regenerate on its own, using these therapies can definitely speed up that process immensely, causing relief to come quicker.
  3. Back Pain
Even though chronic pain has already been covered. Back pain in particular has seen fantastic results. Approximately 80 percent of the population experiences some sort of back pain in their life due to different causes. Chronic spine issues are more common than we realize. Back pain experts had reported that back pain is the number one cause for disability in America. Having a remedy for back pain is a great advancement in technology.
  4. Cardiovascular
The stem cells that are in a new born baby’s umbilical cord blood have been found to hold great properties that can assist in cardiovascular repair. By removing the stem cells from the cord blood, which are generally thrown away anyway, medical technology has been able to use these cells to help regenerate tissue in the same person years later should they become injured or in need of tissue regeneration.
  5. Central Nervous System
Research supports the idea that stem cells can also help to rebuild the central nervous systems in our bodies. Damaged brain tissue, including cerebral palsy may be able to participate in this therapy and have the dead tissue regenerate itself through the use of stem cells.

As you can see, regenerated stem cells show great promise to being able to help the body figure out how to heal and repair itself. Even fatal complications from surgeries or injuries can be remedied by stem cell therapy. After going through stem cell therapy, the recovery will be different depending on the patient. Some patients will feel immediate relief from the pain and others will only experience a reduction in pain. Within two days everyone should feel the pain completely disappear or at least feel less pain. Patients can return to their normal lives almost immediately after therapy but any strenuous activity should be avoid for about six to eight weeks to ensure complete tissue regeneration.

If you think you should be a candidate for this type of therapy, talk with you primary care physician and see what they think about referring you to a specialist for a consultation. They may find that another treatment option will work better for you but they may also be open to trying the therapy and seeing what happens. There are almost no risks associated with the therapy so trying it couldn’t hurt.
